Affirmations and Journal Prompts to Welcome in the Month of May

Happy almost May! I have always loved the month of May because the weather is getting warmer and it’s my birth month, among other things. 🙂

At the end of each month, I like to take some time to think about the previous month. What happened last month that I am proud of? What went really well last month? What do I want less of in the upcoming month? 

I also like to make a vision board for the upcoming month and create a list of affirmations that are more specific to my intentions for that next month.

In this blog, I am going to share with you my list of affirmations for the month of May and give you some journal prompts so you can get clear on your intentions for this new month!

What Are Affirmations?

For anyone who is not familiar with the personal development space, Affirmations are positive statements that resonate with you. These statements are meant to provoke feelings of joy and worthiness within us and help us stray away from negative thoughts. 

Our thoughts help create our reality, so we want to make sure our mind is a safe, happy place to be in. 

I like to say my Affirmations in the morning while I do my skincare routine (**habit stacking ;). 

And yes, this will make a difference. It won’t happen overnight, but if you say something enough, your subconscious mind starts to believe it. 

My May Affirmations

  1. I am worthy enough to follow my dreams.
  2. I am doing my best and I am so proud.
  3. Everyday I grow closer to my best self.
  4. I am confident and magnetic.
  5. I choose to find a way, rather than find an excuse. 
  6. I choose positivity over and over again.
  7. When I let go of control, I make space for something better.
  8. I love knowing that my dreams are on their way to me.
  9. I am worthy, I am capable, I am ready, exactly as I am. 
  10. I release the negative self talk and the fear of being seen.

I also love using an Affirmation card set as a way to pick an Affirmation card each day. You can lay out the deck and pick a card that calls out to you and that card is your Affirmation for the day. 

I am currently using the Affirmations for Healing deck by Carol Tuttle Healing. 

Journal Prompts to Welcome in the Month of May

Journaling is a great way to get clear on what we want and what we may want less of in our life. It helps us get our thoughts out of our heads and onto paper so we can then try to make sense of them. 

I like to use prompts to help with journaling. Sometimes, it can be hard to sit down and start writing. These prompts will help guide you in setting intentions for the upcoming month.

Question 1: What are you grateful for?

Question 2: What do you want more of in the month of May?

Question 3: What are you letting go of in the month of May?

Question 4: What is one small goal that you’d like to achieve this month? 

Question 5: What are three attainable steps you can implement to get closer to this goal?

Question 6: What is one larger goal that you would like to move towards? 

Question 7: What is one thing you can do this upcoming month to get closer to this goal?

Question 8: What beliefs might be holding me back?

Question 9: How can I reframe these limiting beliefs? Write them down as the opposite.

Question 10: What is my intention for the new month?

Feel free to answer as many or as little of these journal prompts as you’d like. If ten seems too overwhelming, pick the top three that feel most aligned to you and answer those. 

Scripting For the Month Ahead

Another technique I like to do sometimes for the month ahead is scripting. Scripting is when you write a journal entry about something you want in life, in the present tense or as if you already have it. 

You can begin the journal entry by saying I am so grateful for…

And then write about the thing that you would like to manifest as if it is already in your life. This is a really powerful manifesting technique and I have seen it work wonders for myself.
